The Development of Sewerage System in Pendurthi,
Gajuwaka & Malkapuram area of Visakhapatnam and Construction of Waste Water
Treatment Plant and Supply of Recycled Water to various Industries in the City
is being undertaken by Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC)
through Greater Visakhapatnam Smart City Corporation Limited (GVSCCL), towards
their emphasis to improve the Under Ground Drainage System in uncovered areas
of the City, treatment of the same for safe disposal and equilibrium of water
supply to urban and industry. In addition to conventional waste water
treatment, additional UF and RO treatment is proposed so that the treated
sewage water can be supplied for industrial use instead of direct discharge.
The Project considers an integrated development approach thereby leading to
conservation of water due to reuse of treated water |

The
Project is structured such that it would create value from the urban sewage by
further treatment and supply to industries. It will also satisfy industry water
demands and can free considerable amount of fresh water which can be supplied
to city and thus forming a sustainable approach. The
Project is one of its kind, wherein: 1.
It
contains an end-to-end urban solution for waste water management i.e. from
House Service Connection to Door Step Delivery of Recycled Water 2.
Commercial
project financing (self-sustainable model). 3.
Leading
towards “Zero Water Discharge” solutions
The Project considers laying of about 655 km of sewerage collection
network with 60,000 nos. house service connections, sewage pumping stations,
sewage conveyance mains, balance and additional works for operationalizing 108
MLD Narava STP, WWTP including UF&RO treatment having 79MLD Recycled Water output
capacity, dedicated Recycled Water conveyance to industries premises. |
Status | The project has been grounded in Year 2018-19 in two packages viz. Package-1 (Pendurthi) and Package-II (Gajuwaka & Malkapuram). It is under implementation by M/s Tata Projects Limited on EPC basis and has an O&M period for 15 years. The Financial Closure |
